Job Qualifications Typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS, and three or more years of progressive experience in mechanical inspection. May substitute additional experience in lieu of formal education and training. Must possess: Hands-on experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), using PC-DMIS including setup, operation, and interpretation of results. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and perform mathematical computations. A strong knowledge and background in GD&T, including but not limited to interpreting and inspecting true position, profile of a surface and line, parallelism, perpendicularity, concentricity, circularity, cylindricity, flatness, straightness, angularity, runout and total runout, symmetry, basic dimensions, and datum reference frames. Must also understand feature control frames and material condition modifiers such as MMC and LMC, and how these apply to part inspection and CMM measurement results.
