*Associate Engineer I* Supervisor(s): Principal Engineer Managing Engineer Project Engineer Design Engineer CAD/GIS Manager Summary:We are a small but mighty engineering firm located in Carlsbad. We specialize in planning and design services for potable and recycled water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment facilities. We are currently looking for a full-time engineer with zero to five or more years of experience. Your experience could be in the water/wastewater field or be within another engineering discipline. We are willing to train the right individual. The Associate Engineer is responsible for performing tasks associated with water/sewer/recycled water planning studies*, *hydraulic modeling, and facility design. Essential Job Duties: * Prepares computer aided drafting (CAD) and GIS figures and schematics for reports and analysis. * Assists other engineers in the planning, design, and assistance during construction for water, sewer, and recycled water facilities. * Prepares engineering calculations for water, sewer, and recycled water facilities. * Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to assist with project planning. * Utilizes software to size water, sewer, and recycled water facilities. * Prepares reports and graphics to present results of planning, design, calculations, or software work. * Estimates quantities and cost of materials, equipment, and labor to determine project costs. * Presents reports, graphics, and other such work products to internal staff, client staff, and/or public boards. * Conducts site visits to project sites to observe and monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications. * Performs other related job duties as assigned. Requirements: * BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering required, will consider mechanical or structural as well. * Zero to 5 years experience in water/wastewater/recycled water engineering. * EIT Certification is preferred. * Professional and/or educational experience in the following: Water/wastewater/recycled water engineering design standards, treatment plants, pump stations and lift stations. * Experience in AutoCAD and GIS preferred, but not required. * Independent worker, with a strong problem solving mentality. * Proficient in both written and verbal English communication skills required. * Technical writing proficiency. * Ability to sit 85 percent of the shift time working on a computer.
